Professional Biography

Christopher Georgiadis is a doctoral student in the Clinical Science Ph.D. program at Florida International University. Chris completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology at New York University, with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Mental Studies. Before attending FIU, Chris worked as a research assistant for Glenn Saxe, M.D., at the Center for Stress, Trauma, and Resilience at the NYU Child Study Center. He completed a post-baccalaureate research assistantship at Brown University’s Pediatric Anxiety Research Center (PARC) under the mentorship of Jennifer Freeman, Ph.D. There, he coordinated a project investigating mediators of treatment response in an intensive treatment program for childhood obsessive-compulsive disorder, and several projects aimed to increase the quality and accessibility of exposure therapy for youth with anxiety disorders.

Chris is broadly interested in investigating strategies to enhance family engagement in evidence-based treatments (EBTs) for childhood internalizing disorders. Specifically, he is interested in (1) developing novel strategies to better equip providers in personalizing treatments to the unique preferences, goals, and priorities of families; (2) identifying strategies to make behavioral therapies more acceptable to parents and families (e.g., increased psychoeducation, online tools, etc.); and (3) investigating how shared decision-making in youth mental health care serves to improve youth outcomes and satisfaction with services.
