Biografía Personal

Claudia Márquez is a clinician and Program Coordinator within the Mental Health Interventions and Novel Therapeutics (MINT) Program in the Center for Children and Families (CCF) at Florida International University (FIU). She provides bilingual individual and group cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) to children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, and parent-child interaction therapy informed treatment for selective mutism (PCIT-SM) to children with selective mutism. 

In 2023, Claudia graduated Magma Cum Laude from FIU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. As an undergraduate, Claudia began working as a Research Assistant for the Technological Interventions for Ecological Systems (TIES) Lab at FIU, where she later continued to contribute during her time as a graduate student. During this time, she was a youth coordinator with several ABA agencies with a focus on training behavior technicians and organizing group therapy events for children on the spectrum. In October of 2024, she obtained her certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). 

In 2025, Claudia received a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling Psychology (PCP) at Florida International University. She completed her practicum at FIU’s Center for Children and Families where she trained in providing evidence-based individual and group treatment for children with behavioral and developmental difficulties within the ages of 6-17. She completed her internship with the MINT Anxiety program where she provided individual and group CBT and PCIT-SM treatment in English and Spanish to children and adolescents with anxiety and selective mutism. Here, she was a counselor for FIU’s Brave Bunch Summer Treatment program during two consecutive years. 

Her research interests include child development in untraditional family dynamics or structures (including single-parent,  multi-generational, and same-sex parent households), specifically for hispanic or latin-american populations. She is also interested in researching anxiety disorders and selective mutism in children of immigrant families.
