Biografía Personal

Jennifer Cortina is the Program Coordinator for the Network for Enhancing Wellness in Disaster-Affected Youth (NEW DAY), a SAMSHA funded disasters mental health training project and was also the Clinical Coordinator for the Free Family Telehealth Program, a donor funded telehealth project, both programs within the Mental health Interventions and Novel Therapeutics (MINT) Program at Florida International University (FIU). Prior to her position with MINT, she was the Intake Department Coordinator for the Clinic with the Center for Children and Families at FIU under the mentorship of Isabel Rodríguez Duncan (LCSW, Ed.S.).   

In 2014, Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Spanish & Psychology and obtained a certificate in Speech-Language Pathology in 2015, all at Florida International University (FIU). She also worked as a behavior consultant and research assistant in the Classroom Behavior Support (CBS) Project, an IES funded project between Florida International University’s Center for Children and Families and Ohio University’s Center for Intervention Research in Schools, working with elementary school teachers in Miami and Ohio using Tier 1 and Tier 2 classroom interventions. 

In 2019, she graduated from the University of Miami (UM) with a 3.95 GPA and received a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics (MSHI). In 2021, she was selected for the Graduate Accelerator Program and completed a Full Stack Development Bootcamp with the female-led tech education company Tech Talent South (TTS). In May of 2024, she graduated from the Apple iOS App Development with Swift program at Miami Dade College, a partnership with Apple and the Miami Codes initiative and has recently obtained the Apple App Development with Swift Associate Certification.

Jennifer is passionate about generating culturally competent, evidence-based, holistic, and integrative mental-health care as well as learning and applying new technologies.
